Bilingual English/Spanish-speaking Case Worker

Position Description

Our Case Management Department is looking for a highly personable, persistent, and detail-oriented Case Worker to assist our Case Management Supervisor with client services. CIANA’s Case Management Department provides job/housing assistance, public benefits application support, and NYC Care enrollment as well as referrals to other community and public resources.
 

The Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans (CIANA) is a social services organization that works to integrate new immigrants from South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America into the socio-economic and civic life of American society while maintaining pride in their cultural heritage.

Everyday Duties
• Scheduling new appointments and confirming scheduled appointments
• Managing correspondence between CIANA, clients, and other institutions
• Completing general and case management intakes for new clients
• Assisting with case working appointments, especially with interpretation for clients who speak Spanish
• Maintaining case working client spreadsheet, database, and digital files
• Organizing and maintaining up-to-date paper files
• Attending trainings and coalition meetings with case manager and/or clients
• Accompanying or representing clients at other meetings and appointments

Requirements

  • At least two years of college completed

  • Proficiency in Spanish

  • Experience in Case Work

  • Experience in one or more of the following:

    • Microsoft Office and Google Suite, especially Excel/Sheets

    • Knowledge of public benefits or willingness to learn

    • Researching

    • Organization and filing

    • Counseling or customer service

Projects

  • Help fulfill quarterly deliverables

  • Develop and execute trainings in specific service areas

Bilingual Spanish Test & Trace Outreach Workers

Position Description

CIANA is looking for passionate, outgoing, and experienced Outreach Workers to participate in our Test & Trace (T2) education/outreach efforts for COVID-19. In conjunction with NYC Health & Hospitals Corp, CIANA will be educating our local communities on the importance of wearing masks, social distancing, testing and getting the COVID vaccine.

 

We are looking for culturally competent experienced workers to go into the community, hand out fliers, table at events and fairs, and complete other outreach tasks as necessary, in order to inform community members of the importance maintaining social distance, getting tested regularly and getting the vaccine.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Experience with community involvement and/or outreach for political campaigns, community events, etc.

  • Public speaking and interpersonal communication skills

  • Keen awareness of immigration news and issues impacting immigrant communities

  • Knowledge of the COVID-19 virus

  • Occasional weekend and evening availability

  • Comfortability with advocacy and mobilization

  • Knowledge of Queens (Astoria in particular) its immigrant population, and related topics is a huge plus!

Time Commitment

Monday-Friday, 10AM-6PM (8 hour shift, 5 days/week)​

License/Certification:

Drivers license (preferred)
